Over the past decade, there has been a consistent increase in construction activity in the major Florida cities of Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Tallahassee. It's fascinating to see when each city experienced its peak construction activity.

Jacksonville Leads the Way in Construction Volume in 2019

In 2019, Jacksonville surpassed all the other cities with the highest construction volume of over 19M SF, followed by Orlando with over 13M SF, and Tallahassee with over 3M SF. As expected, the pandemic caused construction to slow down in 2020.

Miami and Tampa Experience Surprising Construction Surges During the Pandemic

Interestingly, Miami's construction activity increased during the pandemic, hitting its highest volume of 15M SF feet in 2020 before decreasing in 2021. Tampa also recently experienced a post-pandemic peak in 2021, with over 11M SF of completed construction.
